Is anybody into Richard Thompson? I was channel surfing and caught his concert on some BBC network, I didn't even know I had.
I guess he was with Fairport Convention. He is now a one man show. Just him and his guitar and one great song after another!
I got totally hooked. Can't believe I paid no attention to this guy until now!

He has a style all his own Pauline. Closer to Folk than Rock, I s'pose. I thought he was Irish at first. It had sort of an Irish feel to it. Sort of odd lyrical perspectives and very engaging! His guitar playing is interwoven into the vocals in many surprising and intricate ways.
I think I caught about 6 songs and they all were great. I googled him immediately and found that he has a strong following and I can see why!!
I hope Santa brings me a CD!!!

Berlin - Metro Greatest Hits (very cool remixes of all the early hits. Very well done, especially Sex (I'm a...) the Rosetta Stone remix! WOW!
Blondie - Maria (Soul Solution and Talvin Singh remixes which are all a bit blase' imo!
Pink - 4 different CD singles (all have alternate versions and or remixes but I haven't listened to them yet. WHAT?

I'm still all about "A Taste of Cherie". I love this album so much, I set the player to repeat. My faves on it are Believe, Jane Doe and Moonshine Lullaby. Her voice is so haunting on Jane Doe, I think.
I'm wishing, hoping and praying Cherie will do another one soon. She has the voice that could do just about any genre extremely well. There's a part of me that would love to hear her do a jazzy "Fly Me To The Moon".

>1 The Beatles LOVE - Wow it's strange listening to The Beatles all mixed up by George Martin and his son.
The music is used for the Cirque Du Soleil and was originally the idea of George Harrison and Guy Laliberte' (the founder of Cirque Du Soleil).
They must have had a blast playing with the master tapes and coming up with something that is familiar and yet very different at the same time! Hard to explain. It's an amazing listening experience! I hope to see that show soon!

Plant, whose plati num records are a cash cow for the label, had to go elsewhere to learn of the funeral ar rangements for the Turkish-born im presario who worked with ev eryone from Ray Charles and Are tha Franklin to the Young Rascals and the Rolling Stones...Well just shows you where the state of music is headed..
